Daedalus Interstellar, the Meridian Exchange and the Vanguard Ascendancy hold that what a people builds is theirs to keep and trade. They keep their markets open to each other, close their yards to any Mandate that would claim them, and stand together against any attack on one.
Charter
Daedalus built the engines that carried the Exodus.
Daedalus reached Epsilon first, and lost Epsilon Terra.
The Meridian Exchange keeps the Meridian Ledger.
The Ledger remembers every promise made.
The Vanguard Ascendancy built Fort Ascendant on Kestrel.
It ranks every hand by Standing.
None of us trusts the others.
Each of us builds.
What a people builds is theirs to keep and trade.
Our markets stay open to each other.
Our yards stay closed to any Mandate that would claim them.
Common Ground
- The builder owns the work. A ship, a station or a design belongs to the people who made it.
- Competence earns standing. Engineers, skilled crews and practical problem-solvers are valued in all three.
- No power holds the right to rule by default. None of us accepts a claim of automatic legal supremacy over Epsilon.
- Agreements bind. A signed contract is kept, even when keeping it costs.
Common Goals
- Keep the lanes open. Shipping corridors stay safe from raiders and free to members' traffic.
- Prevent any monopoly of government or infrastructure. Epsilon must keep many yards, ports and suppliers.
- Shape Epsilon before it sets. The institutions standing when more ships arrive may become permanent, and ours should be among them.
- Recover what the crossing lost. Lost technology, personnel and Manifest assets return to those who built them.
Articles
- No member raises arms against another.
- An attack on one member is an attack on all.
- Contracts. Trade between members is recorded on the Meridian Ledger. Disputes go to arbitration before brokers of all three members, and their ruling is honoured.
- Ownership. A purchase grants the thing bought and nothing more. No member claims another's technology, designs or yards through sale, debt or integration. Any member may learn to build what it once bought.
- Settlements. No member draws a settlement bound to another member by treaty or contract into its own structures without that member's consent. No member withholds air, food or rescue from another member's crews in distress.
- Epsilon Terra. Mutual defence covers what members hold. It does not cover what they seek. No member calls on the others to press a claim on Epsilon Terra.
- Outside trade. Each member trades with any port it chooses. No member demands that another close its markets to a power outside the Exchange.
