The Culling Hand, the Iron Dominion and the Oracle stand together as the Concord of Law. They hold to order, law and security, defend one another, and never raise arms against each other.
Charter
The Culling Hand survived the First Reduction aboard Necessary Grace.
The Iron Dominion lives by the Doctrine of Necessary Labor.
The Oracle lives by the forecasts of ORACLE.
Three ships crossed the dark by three different laws.
Each learned that a council unwilling to decide kills everyone.
Each chose order, and lived.
We bind that order into one law and one defence.
Common Ground
- Survival before desire. Each member places collective survival above personal want.
- Measured resources. We keep accurate inventories and hold waste in contempt.
- Practical competence. We honor engineers, technicians, physicians and logisticians above orators.
- Durable machines. We build for repair, not replacement.
- Kept agreements. We honor our word even when it is inconvenient.
Common Goals
- Hold the outer system. Measure Station, Ironhold and Delphi Station stand under one shield.
- Check uncontrolled growth. No settlement in Epsilon should expand beyond what its resources can carry.
- Build to last. We pursue fusion, heavy industry and life-support systems that outlive their builders.
- Decide on sound data. We share reliable records so that no member acts on dangerously incomplete information.
- Watch the unknown. We study the unidentified spacecraft together and report what we find.
Articles
- No member raises arms against another.
- An attack on one member is an attack on all.
- Each member governs its own people by its own law. The Measure, the Orders and ORACLE's directives answer to no other member.
- No member conceals a shortage from the others. Inventories of water, food and life support are shared on request. What a member builds belongs to its builder, and no member is compelled to surrender data beyond what it has agreed to give.
- The water reserves of the Culling Hand serve emergency stabilization. No member uses water, life support or other survival-critical resources to coerce another member.
- When the Concord decides a matter that will cost lives, a named leader of each member casts that member's vote. ORACLE's forecast is heard before the vote is taken.
- No member destroys another's functioning infrastructure. Trade between members carries no demand for political concessions.
