In the game it binds its members to non-aggression and mutual defence.

The Echo Society, the Mothlight Communion and the Children of the Void keep one open record of every attack in Epsilon, so that no aggressor can deny what it has done to the unarmed.

Charter

The Echo Society carries the memory of Earth aboard Memoria.
The Mothlight Communion watches the dark from Lumen Rising and the Lantern Chain.
The Children of the Void heard no human voice for sixty years aboard the Lodestar.
None of us can fight.
All of us can watch.
An attack seen by three peoples cannot be denied.
So we keep the watch together, in the open, for all of Epsilon.

Common Ground

  • The open record. Each of us refuses to let a single power monopolize what is known.
  • The passive watch. Second Memory, the Lantern Chain and the Silent Network all listen before they speak.
  • No master. DAED and CHRT have each sought our partnership or our data, and each of us has answered no.
  • Honest error. Mothlight logs every false positive beside every sighting, ECHO prizes documented sources, and VOID honours those who admit their mistakes.

Common Goals

  1. Record every attack. Keep a shared, open record of aggression in Epsilon that any people may read and no aggressor may erase.
  2. Spread the watch. Place Lantern Chain and Silent Network stations where they can see the traffic corridors, and keep copies of the record in more than one place.
  3. Recover the lost. Salvage the records of arriving and derelict Exodus vessels, for the archive and for the silent decades of the Lodestar.
  4. Break dependency. Oppose any power that would control navigation, communication or information so thoroughly that others cannot live without it.

Articles

  1. No member raises arms against another.
  2. An attack on one member is an attack on all.
  3. The shared record holds attacks, aggressors and the harm they do. It holds no private lives. No member uses the watch to observe another member or any peaceful settlement beyond what recording an attack requires.
  4. Every member keeps a full copy of the shared record. No entry is deleted or altered. A correction is written beside the entry it corrects.
  5. Each member keeps its own archives. Nothing in this charter grants access to Memoria, to the data of Lumen Rising, or to Stillpoint.
  6. No member fires on an unknown craft merely because it is unknown. Mothlight may approach the craft and broadcast toward them in its own name only. The others are not bound to follow, for a light does not owe the moth safety.
  7. No Legacy Profile is made of a member's people, and no member's culture is recorded, without the consent of that people. Any power a member grants the Watch, that member may recall.
